origins tinted moisturizer spf 40 review

Origins has released their new GinZing SPF 40 Tinted Moisturizer. SPF is so, so important to me since I deal with Melasma. I am always looking for products with SPF so I was excited when I was invited to a bloggers event by NKPR to “Wake Up” with Origins, have yoga in the morning, and learn about the new product at Thompson Toronto. It was so refreshing ahhh I wish it was every morning!

I feel like tinted moisturizers can be tricky for brands to perfect. Some can be too greasy (especially with added SPF), many oxidize, and I am never quite sure how much I will like the product. I found that the Origins GinZing Tinted Moisturizer is lightweight, I love the light coverage, and it’s not greasy at all.

The main ingredients are Panax Ginseng, Barley and Wheat Germ, and Caffeine. Panax Ginseng is known to support natural cellular energy to revitalize skin, while caffeine is a natural anti-irritant that helps skin appear refreshed and keeps skin healthy. Barley and Wheat germ helps boost moisture levels within the skin. My skin is “very” dry, so it works very well, keeps me hydrated, and it feels very refreshing to have that kind of moisture. I will mention though, that after about 3-4 hours, I feel my skin needs some more hydrating. Depending on your skin type, you might not need!

This GinZing SPF 40 Tinted Moisturizer is really easy to apply. I start with my face cream (since it’s not as hydrating as I have very dry skin,  I still use a moisturizer underneath) then I apply Origins Tinted Moisturizer. If the sun’s super strong or I know my face will be exposed, I also apply SPF 50 before I apply the tinted moisturizer. This can get super greasy so maybe not an option for everyone. Again, my skin is dry.

Overall, this is an impressive product. It may seem a little high on the price point $49 CAD, but may be worth investing in if you’re in need of a good, universal moisturizer.
